What is Gimp?
Gimp is a free program where you can design graphics of your own. It is much like programs such as Photoshop which costs 100's of dollars... except it's free.
Download & Install
- First you need to download Gimp: click here to do so.
- After it downloads, install it, and open the program.
- You should see 2 separate windows open. One says GIMP and the other says Layers, Channels, Paths.
- In the GIMP window, go to the File menu at the top > New and just click Ok.
- Now a new window called Untitled will come up - this is known as a canvas.
- Go to the View menu and click Show Rulers (3rd from the bottom) so the checkmark next to it disappears.
- If you want the dashed lines around your canvas to disappear as well, go to View > Show Layer Boundary.
If you want to stretch out the size of the canvas' window (not make the canvas itself larger) hover your mouse over any corner of the window until it turns into a diagonal cursor. Then just click and drag to expand the window.
